Description

Docasco Topical Hoof Dressing Spanish for "hoof doctor", Docasco is a topical hoof conditioner for horses developed by Dr. Scott Morrison. Docasco maintains the moisture of the hoof wall, heel, sole, and coronary band of the horse’s foot.

Docasco contains the following proprietary blend of ingredients to support hoof health: • Common minerals in seawater, such as salt, calcium carbonate, iodine, and magnesium, are believed to promote healing and tissue growth.
• While many hoof dressings contain a synthetic version, Docasco utilizes all natural venice turpentine to help toughen and harden the hoof and sole.
• Pine tar acts as a protective layer on the hoof capsule, making it more resistant to environmental stressors. Rapid changes in moisture content can lead to superficial wall cracks (weather cracks). Some hooves either do not produce a good periople (the outer waxy layer) or have it removed by abrasive footing or sanding. Without this layer, the hoof becomes more susceptible to moisture fluctuations. Pine tar effectively acts as a barrier, helping the hoof regulate moisture content. • Creolin, a natural disinfectant produced by wood distillation, has potent antibacterial and antifungal properties.
• With no filler, chemicals, or emulsifiers, Docasco contains only beneficial ingredients.

Together, these ingredients help keep the hoof strong, pliable, and more resistant to environmental and mechanical stressors. Their natural antiseptic properties make them particularly helpful in treating infections of the hoof capsule, such as thrush, white line disease, seedy toe, and bacterial invasions of the white line.

For Best Results: Apply to the entire hoof wall, coronary band, sole, and frog daily for the first week to establish a protective layer. Then apply as needed, typically every other or every third day, to maintain a visible film on the hoof. Pro Tip: Pause application for the last several days leading up to trimming or shoeing as pine tar can gum up farrier tools.
