Directions for use
A small, stiff brush is the handiest way to apply Valentine’s Hoof Ointment. Start at the coronary band, which is the point where the hairline joins the hoof. Apply liberally at this point. Paint the entire surface of the hoof, paying particular attention to the heels if they appear at all hard, dry or cracked. Apply three or four times each week, or once a day if unusually quick results are wanted. Have the bottom of the foot clean and dry. Then brush the sole with ointment, working it in around the frog. If the frog is unusually hard and dry, it may be advisable to fill the cavity with ointment and oakum and place a leather pad under the shoe. However, if the heels are kept trimmed short enough so the frog gets proper contact with the ground, such extreme measures are seldom necessary in the case of light horses. DO NOT USE MUD PACKING
